Talking to other people isn't Kate Bailey's favorite activity. She'd much rather be out on the lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend, Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school's podcast, Kate is not expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she'll have to answer calls and give advice on the air? Impossible. But to Kate's surprise, she turns out to be pretty good at the hosting gig. Then the podcast gets in a call from an anonymous guy, asking for advice about his unnamed crush. Kate is pretty sure that the caller is gorgeous Diego Martinez, and even surer that the girl in question is Alana. Kate is excited for her friend . . . until Kate herself starts to develop feelings for Diego. Suddenly, Kate finds that while doling out wisdom to others may be easy, asking for help is tougher than it looks, and following your own advice is even harder. Kasie West's adorable story of secrets, love, and friendship is sure to win over hearts everywhere.

Much of our spiritual training comes from churches which focus on duty and obedience, with an emphasis on controlling or even ignoring our emotions. Matthew Elliott shows from the scriptures how God is also concerned about the way we feel about things. He has created us to live with and through our emotions. God has clearly laid out what our emotional life can and should look like. Not only that, he has also told us how to work toward this goal. God wants us to be able to live freely in full joy, love and hope - the key ingredients of emotional health. The result of five years' research about the nature of emotions and their function, this popular book gives tools for understanding our emotions and equips us to grow healthy feelings and reject destructive ones.

In this vivid account of nearly 100 years of passionate life, Shivaun Gannon takes us through eras, countries, and changing fortunes with her enchanted storytelling. Born into a large, spirited Irish nationalist family, Shivaun spent her childhood in the garden of Ireland, speaking Gaelic, cycling in the Wicklow Mountains and swimming in the Irish sea, as electricity, motorcars and wireless radios made their first appearances. A young woman when WWII broke out, she describes with heartbreaking and powerful clarity the parties, near misses and losses wrought on Ireland through the personal lens of her deeply involved family of doctors, nurses, motorcycle dispatchers, aeronautical engineers, and her own marriage and early family life in the midst of war. Post WWII, the Gannons made the difficult decision to emigrate, sight unseen, to Canada leaving behind deep, proud Irish family roots to begin life anew with six children in Winnipeg. There, harsh winters, poverty, as well as opportunity, incredible resilience and family bonds take the Gannons on a rollicking journey full of music, invention, faith and strength.

Excerpt: "It Must Have Been Love" is a power ballad written by Per Gessle and performed by the Swedish pop duo Roxette. The ballad became the duo's third #1 hit in the United States, and is one of their best-selling releases, leading the single to be certified gold in a number of countries. The song, included on the soundtrack to the hugely popular film Pretty Woman, rivals "The Look," "Joyride," and "Listen to Your Heart" as the song most closely associated with them. In 2005, Per Gessle received an award from BMI after the song's four millionth radio play. "It Must Have Been Love (Christmas For The Broken Hearted)," the song's original title, was first released in 1987 after EMI Germany asked Roxette to come up with an intelligent Christmas-single. It went on to become a Top 10 hit in Sweden but EMI Germany decided not to the release the track. This version of the song was not part of any Roxette album until the 1997 re-release of Pearls of Passion, where it was included as a bonus track. The B-side to "Christmas For The Broken Hearted," "Turn to Me," also featured as a bonus track. Side A: "It Must Have Been Love (Christmas For The Broken Hearted)"Side B: "Turn to Me" During the run of chart-topping singles from Look Sharp! Touchstone Pictures approached Roxette's record label, EMI, and the group about contributing a song to the soundtrack of the upcoming romantic comedy release Pretty Woman, starring Richard Gere and Oscar nominee Julia Roberts. Pretty Woman was released in March 1990 and went on to make more than $460 million worldwide. Gessle has claimed that "It Must Have Been Love," by then a two-year-old recording, was chosen because Roxette did not have time to compose and record a new song while touring Australia and New Zealand. Gessle and producer Clarence Ofwerman took the original 1987 recording, had Marie Fredriksson replace a single Christmas-referenced line in the song and added some instrumentation and background vocal overlays to enhance the sound.
